** Scattered showers this evening for the foothills, mostly sunny and cool this week. Another storm possible early next week. **
43°F – We had scattered showers with a few localized heavy downpours in the foothills today in the wake of last night’s storm.
The foothills received anywhere from 1.2-1.7 inches of rain in the Grass Valley, Nevada City area. Locally, we picked up 1,44″ of rain in Cascade Shores.
Snow showers in the Sierra today made for hazardous driving conditions as chain controls were in effect for a time on I80. Donner Summit reported 6 inches of new snow as of this evening. Kirkwood reported 12″ of new snow so far as well. Sugar Bowl looks to have approx 8 inches of snow as of 5 PM (see photo). I’ll give a complete tally on snow amounts in tomorrow’s report.
Scattered snow showers will continue in the Sierra will continue into tonight with a few flurries possible tomorrow.
For the foothills, look for scattered showers this evening with partial clearing overnight with lows in the 30’s. Our nice fall weather continues with mostly sunny skies Tuesday through Saturday with highs only in the 50’s to around 60 with lows in the 30’s and 40’s. Our next chance of rain comes around Monday of next week.
