91°F – Relief is in sight! The oppressive hot weather we’ve been experiencing lately will come to an end, but it will take several days to cool down.
The Monsoonal high that’s been controlling our weather pattern will slowly shift east over the next week, allowing the delta breeze to eventually move in.
So, the forecast for today, look for hot weather to continue. Temps may cool a degree or so over yesterday with increasing clouds this afternoon as monsoonal moisture moves in from the SE. The Sierra will likely see thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, with heavy rain possible. The best chances look to be south of Lake Tahoe. The foothills even see a slight chance of a sprinkle, shower or thunderstorm late this afternoon and again late Friday.
Temp will cool gradually over the next several days from the low to mid 90’s to mostly 80’s by next week. We may actually cool to a little below normal by the end of next week! That will be a relief for sure.
Extreme fire danger continues throughout the state. For that reason, it is illegal to use fireworks in the Grass Valley / Nevada City areas.
Have a happy 4th of July everybody! Be safe!
