A strong storm is poised to impact the entire state of California today through Wednesday. It will bring moderate to heavy rain to the valley and foothills. Heavy snow will begin in the Sierra later today, lasting well into Wednesday. Snow levels will range between above 7000-7500 feet possibly lowering to around 6500-7000 feet by Wednesday. Flood warnings are issued for the burn areas and Winter Storm warnings are up for the mountains. 12-18 inches of snow is expected in the Sierra with 2 feet or more possible over the ridges.
Expect several inches of rain in the foothills over the next several days with localized flooding a possibility. Local lakes such as Scotts Flat and Rollins will be filling over the next week.
Beyond Wednesday, the forecast looks unsettled with a few showers possible into Saturday. Look for daytime highs mainly in the 50’s with lows in the 40’s for the foothills.
